Helicopter to be used to put logs in creeks

Print Comment
TILLER: A helicopter will be used to begin placing logs in Brownie and Beaver creeks Saturday near Tiller as part of a joint effort to restore stream habitat for fish.

About 400 logs will be placed in eight miles of stream habitat to provide structure that will slow flows, gather spawning gravel and create holding pools for salmon and steelhead each summer.

The project is a partnership among the Umpqua National Forest, the Partnership for the Umpqua Rivers, the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board, The Nature Conservancy, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and Roseburg Forest Products.

Information: 673-5756.
